Kite Recycling FAQ

Where do the kites come from?

Awesome kiteboarders and windsurfers around the country have donated their gear. Kites have been donated from California, Florida, and Minnesota, and many places in between. The bags I make come with a small card that tell you what type of kite it used to be and where it was flown.

Can I donate my old gear?

Yes! I happily accept donations of old kiteboarding gear and other equipment.  Fill out our donation form here to get started.

Are these like those recycled  billboard bags?

Recycled kite bags are only similar to billboard bags in that they're made of upcycled materials. Otherwise, the fabric is totally different: Much more flexible and lightweight and made for repeated bending and folding while also being UV and sand/wind resistant.

Can you help me make something from my kite myself?

Yes, I can!
I'm in this to help keep waste from landfills, not to hoard all the kites and projects for myself. I would love to help folks try their own projects and figure out how to use their own materials. Send me a message with the contact form to reach out!

Can I buy raw fabric or dyneema lines?

Heck yes!
Are you an ultralight hiker, ultralight gear maker, artist, or someone else who is curious about working with kite fabric or lines?

Fill out my contact form and reach out! I'm happy to ship out fabric to folks at cost, because the goal of this project is to reduce waste. The more people using the fabric the better.

Whether you want fabric for collages or making your own UL gear pouches, or you want a cheap source of sustainably sourced Dyneema lines for camping and hiking, I can hook you up.

Where can I buy something?

Online selling will come and go, depending on product stock and other factors.
I also sell at in-person festivals on an irregular basis. If you join our mailing list and you'll be the first to know when the next one is scheduled.
